ZAG Elements of Success

    • The foundation for powerhouse event-based programs is sound strategy. Event programs must be an extension of the brand and be built out from the brand's marketing base.
    • Onto that foundation a brilliant idea must be born. The right idea can multiply the impact of the marketing program many times over. The wrong idea can compromise the integrity of a brand and bring the program to a grinding halt.
    • The final element is execution. There are literally thousands of details involved in producing an event-based program and nowhere does "sweating the details" count for more. By the time an event marketing program hits the ground, it needs to be running with precision and accuracy.

Jonathan S. Lesser – President & Founder

In his 20 year career, Jon has established himself as one of the event-marketing industry’s leading experts in the areas of sampling, event and mobile marketing.  In 1991 Jon left the television and film industry to begin his event-marketing career.  He began working as a Field Manager for companies like Chrysler Corporation, Chevrolet, Sprint, Pepsi Co., IBM, Coca-Cola, Discover Card Services, Motorola and many others.  His main duties were to manage field teams as they traveled the country setting up live, interactive events at hundreds of venues each year.

Jon’s field operation success led him to account management positions with ICC, one of the premier event marketing companies at the time.  During his tenure there, Jon rose to the level of Executive Director with the ultimate responsibilities of not only developing the company’s core program offerings to clients but also managing the design and execution of all of its event promotions from idea to implementation.

With his passion for the event business ever strong, Jon became Executive Vice President and principal of The College Kit.  Here, Jon was charged with helping to grow this small, college, co-op sampling company into an event-marketing powerhouse.  By building on the company’s core assets and expanding its event capabilities beyond the college market, Jon played a significant role in virtually doubling the company’s sales each year and landing it on the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing companies in 2001.

In January of 2003, Jon left The College Kit to open his own event-based marketing company called ZAG Marketing.  Jon has also been published in Event Marketer Magazine, is a frequent contributor to trade publications and is a member of the American Marketing Association.

Jon earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Ithaca College’s Park School of Communications and holds a seat on the alumni board of directors for his alma mater.

Victoria Massulli – Vice President

Vikki began her 19 year career as a field manager for Sprint’s emerging college marketing program. In this role, Vikki was responsible for implementing a high-impact, grass roots marketing effort that set out to educate students about Sprint’s newest product offerings. In addition to brand imaging and awareness, she and her team helped to significantly build Sprint’s user-base through a record-breaking acquisition campaign.

Her experience in event marketing led her to a position with StrayLight Corp., a high-tech company who helped pioneer the field of virtual reality and stereoscopic 3D. With her acute attention to detail, relentless promotional tactics and an analytical approach to burgeoning business opportunities, Vikki helped transform StrayLight’s core competencies from a software developer and system integrator into the leading high-tech event marketing firm specializing in trade shows and mobile marketing.

Vikki has designed, managed and executed over 60 custom programs both domestic and international. They include Portugal Telecom’s exhibit at the 1998 World’s Fair Expo in Lisbon, Portugal; Royal Caribbean’s launch of the world’s largest cruise ship (The Voyager of the Seas); an installation at Disney World’s Pleasure Island Resort and countless global trade events. Vikki’s client experience includes Abbott Labs, AT&T, Bell & Howell, Disney Resorts, First Union Bank, Hennessy Cognac, IAMS, IBM, Kraft Foods, Nabisco, Pfizer, Royal Caribbean, Sprint, and many others.

In 2003, Vikki joined ZAG Marketing as Vice President. Her responsibilities focus on client service as well as the long-term, strategic growth of the business.

Vikki earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing, at Rutgers School of Business, Rutgers College, with a concentration in Fine Arts and has been an active member of the American Marketing Association, Trade Show Exhibitors Association, International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions and The Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association. Vikki is also a featured speaker at industry conferences and a frequent contributor to trade publications.

To that end you will become accustomed to seeing our senior people intimately involved in every aspect of your program. We are at the training sessions. We are mastering the skills our presenters will need to have. We are observing traffic patterns and consumer interactions at your events. We are constantly spot-checking our field managers. We are at the events supervising on the ground. And we never stop testing, fine tuning and asking ourselves and you, “How can we make this better.”
